Armed drill Team is one of the many teams the corps offers to it's cadets. The team itself generally consists of 10 members (9 cadets and a commander). However, as we have the resources for two teams, we have dubbed an A team, and a B team. If we get enough cadets, both teams will compete on the field at a competition.
Armed Drill Team competes in 3 different stages. First is inspection, where we are judged on the correctness of our uniforms, and general knowledge. Next is Regulation, where we practice actual rifle drill (marching in formation with rifles). Finally we compete in the exhibition phase. During exhibition, Armed Drill puts on a performance which combines skills in regulation with spins, throws, and coordinated movements.
That's not to say that the team practices solely for competitions. We also work ceremonies, for instance the Armed Drill Team is escorting Colorguard at the 9/11 ceremony, and will be at the homecoming game.
During practice ADT will teach you dedication, perserverance, attention to detail, and teamwork. However, do not for an instant think that ADT is all work and no fun. We strive to make sure that all of our teammates work together as flawlessly as possible, which means that all team members become great friends. There are no limits to this, as I have seen Freshman and Seniors become good friends through the Armed Drill Team.
Also, ADT gives you the perfect opportunity for advancement. Every single one of our staff and senior leadership this year have been on a team, and most every one of our previous members has received a leadership position of some sort. During class ADT members are most often used as examples to the rest of the company, and will often set the example even when not asked.
All in all, ADT is a way to make the friends, learn the skills, and have the best time of your life in high school. It will make you the best in everything you do; be it the corps, your classes, or your life.
